Judge David E. Stamey, Jr.: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. David E. Stamey, Jr. is a judge for the Polk County Court in the Tenth Judicial Circuit of Florida. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Scott in December 2018, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Robert Williams (Ret.).

Stamey has presided over the County Criminal Division in Polk County.

Prior to his appointment, Stamey was an assistant state attorney with the Office of the State Attorney for the Tenth Judicial Circuit.

He received a B.A. from the University of Florida in 1992. He went on to complete a J.D. at Stetson University College of Law in 1995. He was admitted to practice in Florida in 1996.

Stamey was a resident of Winter Haven, Florida, at the time of his appointment.
