Judge Wendy J. DePaul - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Wendy J. DePaul is a judge for the 13th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Hillsborough County. She was elected to the bench on August 18, 2020.

Prior to her election, DePaul was a managing partner at Cohen & DePaul, a law firm she founded in 2004. During her tenure there, she handled collections and bankruptcy cases as well as corporate, probate, criminal defense, property, and civil law matters. DePaul supplemented her practice with service to the Bay Area Legal Services and the Bankruptcy Forms Clinic.

DePaul earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Florida State University in 1994. She then completed a J.D. at Stetson University College of Law in 1997. DePaul is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Florida.

Her memberships have included the Florida Bar Association, the Hillsborough County Bar Association, and the Wm. Reece Smith American Inn of Court. She is also actively involved with Rescue Cats of Florida, the Pet Resource Center, and the Hillsborough County Commission Animal Advisory Committee.
