Judge W. Joel Boles - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. W. Joel Boles is a judge on the 1st Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. He was initially appointed to the bench by former Governor Jeb Bush in 2005, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. John P. Kuder.

The 1st Judicial Circuit encompasses Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton Counties. Boles has held assignments in Escambia County.

Prior to his appointment, Boles served as a judge for the Santa Rosa County Court, a position he held for two years. Before that, he was a shareholder at Wilson, Harrell, Smith, Boles & Farrington.

Boles earned a B.A. from the University of Alabama in 1983. He then completed a J.D. at Samford University, Cumberland School of Law, in 1987.

His memberships have included the Florida Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee (JEAC).
