Judge Vivian T. Corvo - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Vivian T. Corvo (Ret.) was a judge for the 13th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Hillsborough County. She was elected to the bench in 1996 and re-elected in 2002, 2008, 2014, and 2020.

Corvo is the first Hispanic woman to sit on the bench in Hillsborough County. She held assignments in the Criminal Division, the Civil Division, the Domestic Relations Division, the Juvenile Dependency Division, and the Probate Division. She also presided over the Adult Drug Court, the Juvenile Drug Court, and the Adult Drug Pre-Trial Intervention Program.

Prior to her election, Corvo spent time as an assistant state attorney and an assistant public defender.

Corvo earned a bachelor’s degree in advertising and political science from the University of Florida in 1979. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Houston Law Center in 1982. She is admitted to practice in Florida (1983), the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

Her memberships have included the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Tampa Bay Hispanic Bar Association, the Florida Association of Drug Court Professionals, and the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges.
