Judge Thomas R. Eineman: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Thomas R. Eineman is a judge for the 5th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Scott in 2014.


The 5th Judicial Circuit encompasses Citrus County, Hernando County, Lake County, Marion County, and Sumter County. Eineman has held assignments in Hernando and Citrus Counties, presiding over cases in the CINS/FINS Programs as well as the Domestic Relations, Unified Family Court, and Child Support Oversight Divisions.


Prior to his appointment, Eineman worked at a local law firm for one year before opening his own private practice as a sole practitioner in 1990. He specialized in family law matters, becoming Board Certified in Marital and Family Law by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education (1994). Eineman supplemented his practice with service as a volunteer judge for the Hernando County Teen Court.


Eineman received a B.A. in political science and psychology from the University of Michigan in 1979. He went on to complete a J.D. at Wayne State University Law School in 1985.


In 2009, Eineman authored a family law legal treatise, which he continued to update each year to include relevant statutes and cases.


He was born in Detroit, Michigan. Away from the bench, Eineman enjoys traveling with his wife.
