Biography

The Hon. Thomas M. Beverly is a judge for the 4th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Charlie Crist in 2010, filling a vacancy created by the passing of the Hon. Peter J. Fryefield.


The 4th Judicial Circuit encompasses Clay County, Duval County, and Nassau County. Beverly has held assignments in Duval County, presiding over cases in the Probate Division.


Beverly earned an A.B. in English from the University of Notre Dame in 1980. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law, in 1984.


After graduating from law school, Beverly began his legal career as an assistant state attorney. He served in that capacity until 1986, at which time he entered into private practice at Gentry & Phillips (1986 to 1988) and Bedell, Dittmar, DeVault, Pillans & Coxe (1988 to 2004). Beverly later joined the City of Jacksonville, where he served as deputy general counsel until his appointment to the bench.


His mother, the Hon. Virginia Q. Beverly (deceased), also served as a judge for the 4th Judicial Circuit Court.
