Judge Thomas D. Skidmore: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Thomas D. Skidmore (Ret.) served as a judge for the Sumter County Court in Florida. Skidmore was elected to the bench in 1988. He retired on December 31, 2015.


Skidmore earned a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University in 1972. He then completed a J.D. at Vermont Law School in 1976.


After graduating from law school, Skidmore entered into private practice. He worked in that capacity until his election to the bench, supplementing his practice by teaching at Lake-Sumter Community College (1977 to 1984).


His memberships have included the Board of Trustees of the Lake-Sumter Community College.


He was a resident of Bushnell, Florida, at the time of his election.
