The Hon. Theodore R. Walters is a hearing officer for the 20th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida.
The 20th Judicial Circuit includes Lee, Charlotte, Collier, Glades, and Hendry Counties. Walters has presided in Lee County.
He is also a partner at Porter Wright Morris & Arthur, LLP, where his practice focuses on corporate, health care, banking, and real estate matters. Walters also heads the firm’s Naples office and is chair of the LGBTQ+ Business practice group. In addition, he is involved with the establishment, structure, purchase, and sale of medical, dental, and veterinary practices. Before joining the firm, Walters was a principal at Cummings & Lockwood, LLC (2005 to 2013).
He received a bachelor’s degree from American University in 1985. Walters then completed a J.D. at the University of Miami School of Law in 1993.
He was admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Florida, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the United States Court of International Trade, and the United States Tax Court.
His memberships include the Collier County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Walters also sat as a member of the Florida Bar International Law Certification Committee and was a past chair of the Florida Bar International Law Certification Committee.
He has served as an attorney coach for the Immokalee High School Mock Trial Team and a competition judge for the 20th Judicial Circuit High School Moot Court. In addition, Walters has been involved with Collier Senior Resources Board of Directors, Leadership Collier (Class of 2006), the Collier County Chapter of the American Red Cross (Board of Directors), the Avow Hospice PAWS Committee (chairman), and the Pelican Landing Governing Documents Task Force (Chairman).
