Judge Steven C. Warrick: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Steven C. Warrick is a judge for the 1st Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Ron DeSantis on March 20, 2023, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Mary K. Polson.

The 1st Judicial Circuit encompasses Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton Counties.

Prior to his appointment, Warrick was a partner at Brooks, Warrick & Associates, a law firm he joined in 2008. Before that, he spent time as an associate at Fitzgerald & Brooks. Warrick handled criminal defense, family law, and probate matters, supplementing his practice with service as a judge for the Santa Rosa County Teen Court Program.

Warrick earned a bachelor's degree from the University of South Alabama in 1995. He then completed a J.D. at Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad College of Law, in 1999.

After graduating from law school, Warrick began his legal career as an assistant public defender in the Office of the Public Defender for the 1st Judicial Circuit. During his tenure there, he developed his trial advocacy skills by representing indigent clients charged with various crimes.

Raised in Mobile, Alabama, Warrick was a resident of Gulf Breeze, Florida, at the time of his appointment. He and his wife, Jolie, have three children. When not presiding over legal proceedings, he enjoys spending time at the beach, playing sports, and visiting amusement parks.
