The Hon. Stan W. Strickland (Ret.) served as a judge for the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Strickland was appointed to the bench by former Governor Lawton Chiles in 1997. He retired in 2011 and became a private mediator with Mediate First, Inc.
The 9th Judicial Circuit encompasses Osceola County and Orange County. Over the course of his judicial career, Strickland held assignments as an associate judge for the Florida Fifth District Court of Appeal.
Prior to his appointment, Strickland was a judge for the Orange County Court, a position to which he was named in 1995.
Strickland earned a bachelor's degree (1975) and a master's degree (1977) from Florida State University. He then completed a J.D. at Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law, in 1984.
After graduating from law school, Strickland entered into private practice. He worked in that capacity until 1991, at which time he became a judge for the Florida Office of the Judges of Compensation Claims.
