Hon. Scott R. L. Young is a judge for the Napa County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2018, filling the vacancy created by the conversion of a commissioner position.
During his judicial tenure, Young has served as supervising judge of the Appellate Division and also presides in the Civil Division. He first joined the bench as a commissioner for the Superior Court in Napa County, having held the position briefly in 2018.
Before that, Young worked as a deputy district attorney with the Napa County District Attorney’s Office (2017 to 2018, 2007 to 2014) and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office (2014 to 2017). Prior to becoming a prosecutor, he managed his own private solo practice for two years (2005 to 2007).
Young received a B.S. from Southern Oregon University. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.
At the time of his appointment, Young resided in Napa, California.
He is registered as a Democrat.
