Biography

Hon. Robert A. Farrance (Ret.) was a judge for the Manatee County Court in Florida. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jeb Bush in 1999. Farrance retired on April 30, 2020.

Prior to his appointment, he was a shareholder at McGuire, Pratt, Masio, Farrance & Rice, a firm tasked with representing the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office in legal matters.

He received a B.A. from the College of Wooster in 1972. Farrance went on to complete a J.D. at Emory University School of Law in 1975.

He was admitted to practice in Georgia (1975), Florida (1975), the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida (1977), the United States Supreme Court (1980), and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Farrance was born in Lakewood, Ohio.
