Biography

The Hon. Paul L. Militello is a judge for the Sumter County Court in Florida. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Scott on February 4, 2016, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Thomas D. Skidmore.


Prior to his appointment, Militello was a criminal defense attorney in his own private practice in Inverness. Before that, he spent time as an attorney at Carney & Militello and Militello & Militello.


Militello earned a J.D. from the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law, in 1992.


He is admitted to practice in Florida (1993), the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida.


After graduating from law school, Militello began his legal career as an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney for the 5th Judicial Circuit. He served in that capacity until 1997, at which time he entered into private practice.


His memberships have included the Citrus County Bar Association.


Militello was a resident of Ocala, Florida, at the time of his appointment.
