Judge Michael F. Marmo - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Michael F. Marmo is a judge for the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Ed Rendell on July 28, 2009, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Robert Horgos.

Marmo earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and history from the University of Pittsburgh. He then completed an M.P.A. from the University of Pittsburgh as well as a J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law.

After graduating from law school, Marmo entered into private practice. He worked in that capacity until his appointment to the bench, supplementing his practice with service as Special Master for the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas (Board of Viewers).

Marmo has received endorsements from the Allegheny County Democratic Committee, the Allegheny County Constables Association, and the Allegheny County Corrections Officers Association.
