Judge Mark J. Yerman - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Mark J. Yerman (Ret.) served as a judge for the Citrus County Court in Florida. Yerman was appointed to the bench by former Governor Lawton Chiles in 1993. He retired on December 31, 2022.

Over the course of his judicial career, Yerman played an instrumental role in the creation of a small-claims mediation program in Citrus County.

Prior to his appointment, Yerman operated his own private practice in Crystal River. During his tenure there, he provided legal assistance in civil matters to low-income individuals. He also handled commercial, real estate, government, probate, juvenile, and family law matters.

Yerman earned a J.D. at the University of Akron School of Law. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1981.

Born and raised in Ohio, Yerman relocated to Florida in 1981. He and his wife, Deborah, have two sons.
