Hon. London M. Kite is a judge for the 4th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Ron DeSantis in 2021, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Karen Cole.
The 4th Judicial Circuit encompasses Clay County, Duval County, and Nassau County.
Prior to her appointment, Kite presided as a judge for the Duval County Court, a position to which she was named by Governor DeSantis in 2020.
Kite earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida. Kite then taught middle school Exceptional Education Students before completing a J.D. at the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law. She was admitted to practice in Florida in 2003.
After graduating from law school, Kite began her legal career as an assistant state attorney with the Office of the State Attorney for the Fourth Judicial Circuit. During her tenure there, she held assignments as Director of Attorney Development and Select Prosecutions, where she was tasked with prosecuting complex murder cases, including cases with multiple co-defendants, gang-related murders, and the death penalty. Her homicide work garnered attention after appearing on Dateline NBC.
She is a recipient of the Rookie of the Year Award (2004), the Jury Trial Award (2005), and the Distinguished Service Award (2018) from the State Attorney’s Office.
Her memberships have included the Chester Bedell American Inn of Court. She has also taught as an adjunct professor at Florida Coastal School of Law.
