Biography

The Hon. Lawrence P. Haddock (Ret.) served as a judge for the 4th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Haddock was appointed to the bench by former Governor Bob Graham in 1981. He retired in 2015 due to the age-related mandatory retirement provision of the Florida Constitution.


The 4th Judicial Circuit encompasses Clay County, Duval County, and Nassau County.


Prior to his appointment, Haddock was a judge for the Duval County Court, a position to which he was elected in 1974.


Haddock earned a B.A. in history from Harvard University in 1967. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law, in 1970.


After graduating from law school, Haddock entered into private practice as an associate at Dawson, Galant, Maddox, Boyer, Sulik & Nichols. He worked in that capacity until 1972, at which time he became an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney for the 4th Judicial Circuit.


Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Haddock was raised in a family of attorneys. He is a veteran of the United States Navy Reserve, retiring as a captain after twenty-six years of service.
