Biography

The Hon. L. Haldane Taylor (Ret.) was a judge for the 4th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Taylor was appointed to the bench by former Governor Lawton Chiles in 1991. He retired in 2011.


The 4th Judicial Circuit encompasses Clay County, Duval County, and Nassau County.


Prior to his appointment, Taylor was a judge for the Duval County Court, a position he held for five years.


Taylor earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Florida. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law.


After graduating from law school, Taylor began his legal career as an assistant public defender with the Office of the Public Defender for the 4th Judicial Circuit. He served in that capacity for two years, eventually leaving to enter into private practice.


Taylor is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served during the Vietnam War.
