Judge Kim Hernandez Vance: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Hon. Kim Hernandez Vance (Ret.) was a judge for the 13th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Hillsborough County. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Scott in 2016.

Hernandez Vance held assignments in the Civil, Unified Family Court, and Juvenile Delinquency Divisions.

Prior to her appointment, she was a judge for the Hillsborough County Court, a position to which she was named in 2014.

Hernandez Vance received a B.A. in accounting from the University of West Florida in 1985. She then worked as a certified public accountant before completing a J.D. at Stetson University College of Law in 1997.

After graduating from law school, Hernandez Vance began her legal career as an attorney at Rahdert, Anderson, McGowan & Steele, P.A. She later became a shareholder at Cohn, Cohn & Hendrix, P.A. Then, in 2005, Hernandez Vance joined GrayRobinson, P.A., where she practiced as a shareholder until her appointment to the bench.

Her memberships included the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Hillsborough Association of Women Lawyers, the Jesuit Bar Association, the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association, the Ferguson White Inn of Court, The Florida Bar, and the Tampa Bay Inn of Court. She also served as a board member of the Kiwanis Club of Tampa, and she was a member of the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council.
