Biography

Hon. Justin W. Skaggs is a judge for the Jackson County Court of Common Pleas (Probate and Juvenile Division) in Ohio. He was elected to the bench in November 2020 to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Stephen Michael (Ret.).

At the time of his election, Skaggs was a sole practitioner in his own private practice in Jackson, a position he had held for ten years. His areas of practice included family, criminal, and probate law. In addition, he served as president of the real estate investment company, LaRave Holdings, LLC, since 2011.

During his campaign, he promised to provide timely decisions by issuing a guarantee to give a written decision within ninety days of a contested hearing before his court.

Skaggs received a J.D. at Ohio Northern University, Claude W. Pettit College of Law in 2008.
