Judge Jonathan V. Schlechter: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Jonathan V. Schlechter is a judge for the Okaloosa County Court in Florida. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Ron DeSantis on January 7, 2022, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Patricia Grinsted.

Schlechter earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. He then completed a J.D. at Florida Coastal School of Law. He was admitted to the State Bar of Florida in 2009.

After graduating from law school, Schlechter began his legal career as an assistant state attorney with the Office of the State Attorney for the 1st Judicial Circuit. He served in that capacity until 2019, at which time he entered into private practice at AnchorsGordon.

Born into a military-service family, Schlechter was raised in Okaloosa County. He was a resident of Niceville, Florida, at the time of his appointment. He and his wife have two children.
