Biography

The Hon. James H. Daniel is a judge for the 4th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. He was elected to the bench in 2008 and re-elected in 2014 and 2020.


Judge Daniel is currently assigned to Division B and serves as the county’s administrative judge. He also handles felony, domestic violence, guardianship, and probate matters.


The 4th Judicial Circuit encompasses Clay County, Duval County, and Nassau County. Daniel has held assignments in Nassau County and Duval County, presiding over felony criminal, dependency, family law, domestic violence, and probate and guardianship matters.


Prior to his election, Daniel was a partner at Coker, Schickel, Sorenson & Daniel, a law firm he joined in 1995. During his tenure there, he specialized in personal injury, insurance, and construction claims.


Daniel earned a B.A. in History from the University of Florida. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law, in 1992. He is Board Certified in Appellate Law by the Florida Bar (2007).


His memberships have included the Chester Bedell American Inn of Court.
