Judge Helene L. Daniel - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Helene L. Daniel is a judge for the 13th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Hillsborough County. She was elected to the bench on August 18, 2020.

Prior to her election, Daniel was a sole practitioner in her own private practice. In that capacity, she served as a mediator and arbitrator, holding certifications from the Florida Supreme Court.

Daniel earned a bachelor’s degree in foreign languages from Stetson University in 1982. She then completed a J.D. at Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad College of Law, in 1986. She is admitted to practice in Florida (1986), the District of Columbia (1988), and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the Middle District of Florida.

Her memberships have included the Hillsborough Association for Women Lawyers, the National Conference of Women Bar Associations, and the Ferguson White American Inn of Court. She has also been involved with the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce, the Sun City Chamber of Commerce, the Working Women of Tampa Bay, the Tiger Bay Club, the Hands of Hope Sickle Cell Awareness Foundation, and the Black Business Bus Tour.

Daniel was born in Paris, France. She attends the Nativity Catholic Church.
