Biography

The Hon. Gregory W. Jones (Ret.) was a judge for the Superior Court of Orange County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on November 14, 2008, filling a newly created position. Jones retired in 2021.


Prior to his appointment, he presided as a commissioner for the Orange County Superior Court since 1997. Before that, he was appointed to serve as a juvenile court referee for the court in 1995.


Jones received a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1970. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law in 1974.


After graduating from law school, Jones began his legal career as a deputy public defender, spending five years with the Office of the Public Defender in Orange County. Then, in 1980, he entered private practice as an attorney at Jones & Rubright, where he remained until joining the bench in 1995.


Jones is registered to vote as a Republican.
