Judge Frank N. Schellace: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Frank N. Schellace (Ret.) is a special referee for the Commercial Division of the Nassau County Supreme Court in the Tenth Judicial District of New York.

Schellace earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and political science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1975. He then completed a J.D. at Hofstra University, Maurice A. Deane School of Law in 1978.

After graduating from law school, Schellace served as a law secretary to the Hon. Kenneth D. Molloy and the Hon. Ute Wolff Lally of the Nassau County Supreme Court. He worked in that capacity for sixteen years before becoming a court attorney for the Nassau County Supreme Court.

Schellace has served as counsel to New York State Assemblyman George Madison and Armand D’Amato. He was also a (senior) law clerk in the Office of the Hempstead Town Attorney.

His memberships have included the Florida State Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the Eastern District of New York, and the Southern District of New York as well as the State of Florida, the State of New York, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

When not presiding over legal matters, Schellace operates a general law practice with a focus on commercial litigation and elder law.
