Judge David A. Happe: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. David A. Happe is a judge for the Madison County Circuit Court in Indiana. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Mitch Daniels on May 14, 2009, filling a vacancy created by the sudden passing of the Hon. David W. Hopper (deceased).

Prior to his appointment, Happe was a partner at Lockwood Williams & Happe, a law firm he joined in 2007.

Happe earned a J.D. from Indiana University, Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1996. He was admitted to the State Bar of Indiana in 1997.

After graduating from law school, Happe began his legal career as a deputy prosecuting attorney for the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office. He served in that capacity until 2003, at which time he became corporation counsel for the City of Anderson.

His memberships have included the boards of the United Way of Madison County and the Anderson Symphony Orchestra.

Born and raised in Hancock County, Happe has resided in Madison County since 1997. He and his wife, Keri, have two sons. Keri has worked as a media relations associate with Eli Lilly & Co.

He is registered as a Republican.
