Judge Daniel F. Wilensky: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Hon. Daniel F. Wilensky (Ret.) served as a judge for the 4th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Wilensky was elected to the bench in 2006 and subsequently re-elected in 2012 and 2018. He retired on December 31, 2021.

The 4th Judicial Circuit encompasses Clay County, Duval County, and Nassau County. Wilensky held assignments in Duval County and Clay County, presiding over cases in the Family Division, the Dependency Division, the Civil Division, and the Domestic Violence Division.

Wilensky received a B.A. from the University of South Florida. He went on to complete a J.D. at Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad College of Law, in 1977. As a law student, he interned in the Office of the Public Defender for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit.

After graduating from law school, Wilensky began his legal career as a law clerk to the Hon. James C. Adkins with the Florida Supreme Court. Then, after completing his clerkship, he entered into private practice, where he specialized in family law matters. During that time, Wilensky was an attorney at Lewis, Paul, Isaac & Castillo before opening his own private practice.

His memberships have included the Board of Directors of Florida Legal Services, Inc. and the Advisory Board of the National Board of Forensic Evaluators. Wilensky was also approved by the Florida Supreme Court as a Primary Trainer for Family Mediation Certification.

He is the recipient of the Tobias Simon Pro Bono Service Award from the Florida Supreme Court (1999), the Guardian Ad Litem Judicial Advocate Award (2009), and the Guardian Ad Litem Community Advocate Award (2010).

Wilensky was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and attended the Bolles School.
