Judge Catherine Rizzo - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Catherine Rizzo is a judge for the Nassau County Family Court in the Tenth Judicial District of New York. She was initially elected to the Nassau County Court in 2018.

Rizzo earned a B.A. from New York University in 1990. She then completed a J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 1993.

After graduating from law school, Rizzo began her legal career as an associate at Mitchell, Incantalupo & Vafides in 1994. The following year, she moved to the Law Office of Raymond Schwartzberg. Then, in 1996, she joined the Law Office of Arlene Zalayet, where she worked as an associate until 2004. At that time, she became a principal law clerk for the Hon. Thomas Feinman of the Nassau County Supreme Court. She served in this capacity until her election to the bench.

Her memberships have included the Nassau County Bar Association, the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association, the Law Secretary Association, and the American Bar Association.

She is registered as a Republican.
