The Hon. William Miller is a judge for the Long Beach City Court in Nassau County in the Tenth Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the City Court bench in 2019.
Judge Miller received his bachelor’s degree from Long Island University Post. He went on to earn a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law in 2001.
Before beginning his legal career, Miller worked as a police officer for the New York City Police Department beginning in 1989. He retired from the Department in 2003 having reached the rank of sergeant.
After his retirement from the NYPD, Miller became a sole practitioner at his own law firm.
He was appointed to serve as a member of the Long Beach City Council in 2009, at which time he served as chairman of its Civil Service Commission until 2014. He joined the City Council after serving on the City of Long Beach Zoning Board of Appeals for five years.
Miller has also been a member of the Long Beach Lawyers’ Association.
