Hon. William L. Wright (Ret.) was a judge for the 14th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. He was elected to the bench in 1996 and re-elected to the post in 2008 and 2014. He retired from the bench in 2016.
The 14th Judicial Circuit includes Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, and Washington Counties. Wright was selected to serve as the Chief Judge of the 14th Judicial Circuit in 2005. Over the course of his judicial career, he presided as a judge in Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, and Washington Counties. He was also instrumental in helping to establish a Drug Court in Jackson County.
Prior to joining the bench, he served as an assistant state attorney with the Office of the State Attorney for the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit in Bay County (1979 to 1983) and Jackson County (1983 to 1996). Wright became a Board-Certified Specialist in Criminal Trial Law by The Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education in 1994.
Wright earned a J.D. from Florida State University College of Law in 1979.
Following his retirement, Wright joined the Office of the State Attorney for the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit in 2018, where he became the chief assistant state attorney for the Calhoun County office.
