The Hon. Robin M. Kent is a judge for the Nassau County Family Court in the Tenth Judicial District of New York. She was elected to the bench in 2009. During her tenure on the Family Court, Judge Kent was designated to serve as an Acting Justice of the Supreme Court.
Judge Kent received her B.A. from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1987. She went on to earn a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law in 1990.
After graduating from law school, Kent became an attorney and law guardian with the New York City Administration for Children’s Services.
She has also served as an impartial hearing officer for the New York State Department of Education.
Prior to her election to the bench, Kent was practicing as a sole practitioner, where she specialized in representing children in custody, visitation, juvenile delinquency, and abuse and neglect cases.
While on the bench, Judge Kent has presided over the adoption ceremony during National Adoption Day in Nassau County.
Her memberships include the Nassau County Bar Association, the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association, the Family Law Committee, and the Education Law Committee. She has also served on the Board of Directors of the New York State Family Court Judges’ Association and the Board of Advisors for the Hofstra University Center for Children, Families, and the Law.
