The Hon. Robert J. Frederick (Ret.) served as a judge for the 25th Judicial District Court of Kansas. Frederick was appointed to the bench by former Governor Bill Graves in 2011. He retired at the conclusion of his term in 2021.
The 25th Judicial District encompasses Finney, Greeley, Hamilton, Kearny, Scott, and Wichita Counties.
Frederick earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Kansas in 1972. He then completed a J.D. at Washburn University School of Law in 1975.
After graduating from law school, Frederick entered into private practice, handling real estate, oil and gas, commercial, corporate, criminal, family law, estate planning, probate, and school law matters. He supplemented his practice with service as the County Attorney for Kearny County (1976 to 1987) and the Deerfield City Attorney.
His memberships have included the Kansas Judicial Council’s Family Law Advisory Committee and the Kansas Supreme Court Judicial Needs Assessment Committee.
The son of a medical doctor, Frederick was raised in Hugoton, Kansas, where he attended Hugoton High School. His wife, Debbie, is a retired registered nurse. After retiring from the bench, Frederick returned to private practice, becoming a member of Kennedy Berkley in Salina.
