The Hon. Robert E. Pipia is a judge for the Nassau County District Court in the Tenth Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the bench in 2015.
Pipia earned a B.S. in accounting from the State University of New York at Albany in 1987. He then completed a J.D. at the Hofstra University, Maurice A. Deane School of Law in 1992.
He began his legal career as a law assistant for the Office of the Town Attorney in the Town of Hempstead in 1993. The following year, Pipia was appointed as counsel to the Hempstead Town Board by Presiding Supervisor Gregory P. Peterson. Then, in 2000, he became a deputy town attorney in the Office of the Town Attorney in the Town of Hempstead, serving as its Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance Coordinator.
Just prior to his election to the bench, Pipia served as executive assistant to Kate Murray, the Town of Hempstead Supervisor, from 2008 to 2014.
He has been a member of the Nassau County Bar Association. He has also served as a board member of Abilities, Inc.
Pipia was born in Queens and raised in Elmont, New York. As a child, he attended the Henry Viscardi School.
When not presiding over cases, he serves as a member of the Liturgy Inclusion Committee of St. Frances de Chantal in Wantagh. He also enjoys watching professional sports, following politics, and spending time with his friends and family.
Pipia is registered as a Republican.
