The Hon. Robert E. Bell (Ret.) was a judge for the 267th District Court of Texas. He was appointed to the seat by Governor Gregg Abbot in 2016, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Skipper Koetter (Ret.).
The 267th District Court includes Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Jackson, Refugio, and Victoria Counties.
Prior to his appointment, Bell served as the Criminal District Attorney for Jackson County, a position he held for 30 years.
Bell earned a bachelor's degree in business from Lamar University. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Houston Law Center in 1973. He is Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
His memberships have included the Texas District & County Attorneys Association and the Jackson County Bar Association (president). He also served as a trustee for the First Baptist Church in Edna, and he is a board member of the Velma & Harvey Lee Robinson Foundation.
Bell is a registered Republican.
