The Hon. Olin W. Shinholser (Ret.) served as a judge for the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Shinholser was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jeb Bush in 2002. He retired in 2016 and continued to preside as a senior judge.
The 10th Judicial Circuit encompasses Hardee County, Highlands County, and Polk County.
Prior to his appointment, Shinholser was a judge for the Highlands County Court, a position to which he was named in 1990.
Shinholser earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Florida in 1974. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law, in 1976.
After graduating from law school, Shinholser began his legal career as an attorney in private practice. He worked in that capacity until 1979, at which time he became an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney for the 10th Judicial Circuit.
His memberships have included the Florida Conference of Circuit Judges, the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Management Council, the Florida Access to Civil Justice Commission, and the Florida DUI Programs Review Board.
Shinholser was born in Tallahassee, Florida.
