The Hon. Kim W. Cudney is a judge for the 12th Judicial District Court of Kansas. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Kathleen Sebelius on September 27, 2006, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Thomas Tuggle.
The 12th Judicial District encompasses Cloud, Jewell, Lincoln, Mitchell, Republic, and Washington Counties. Cudney has held assignments in Washington County.
Prior to her appointment, Cudney was the County Attorney for Washington County, a position she held for ten years.
Cudney earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in 1986. She then completed a J.D. at Washburn University School of Law in 1989.
After graduating from law school, Cudney began her legal career as a research attorney for the Kansas Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the District of Kansas. She served in that capacity until 1993, at which time she opened her own private practice in Washington, Kansas.
