The Hon. James M. Hendry III is a judge for the Port Jervis City Court in Orange County in the Ninth Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the City Court bench in 2015.
He is a registered Republican.
Judge Hendry received his B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany in 1999. He went on to earn his J.D. from Albany Law School in 2003.
After graduating from law school, Hendry returned to Port Jervis, where he began practicing as an associate for local attorney Victoria B. Campbell. During his tenure at her law firm, some of Hendry’s areas of practice included family law, matrimonial, civil litigation, probate law, bankruptcy, workers compensation, DWI, and criminal matters. Then, in 2010, Hendry established his own law practice, where he specialized in general practice with an emphasis on family law, matrimonial, and child custody and support.
In addition to his law practice, Hendry was also active in the Port Jervis political arena, serving two terms as an elected member of its Common Council in 2005 and 2009. He has also served as a member of the Port Jervis Republican Committee.
His other memberships have included the Orange County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. He is also the founder of the Outdoor Club of Port Jervis.
Judge Hendry is a lifelong resident of Port Jervis, New York. When not on the bench, he enjoys participating in outdoor recreational activities such as hiking and fishing. He also enjoys spending time with his wife Sarah and their three children as well as coaching his son's local Youth Football League team.
