The Hon. Ignatius L. Muscarella is a judge for the Nassau County District Court in the Tenth Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the bench in 2015.
Muscarella earned a B.A. in government and sociology from Bowdoin College in 1977. He then completed a J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1980.
Prior to his election to the bench, Muscarella served as a law secretary for the New York State Unified Court System from 1981 to 2007. He then worked as a court examiner specialist, where he was involved in the administration of cases for people declared to be in need of guardianship.
Muscarella has actively volunteered for Island Harvest, the largest food bank on Long Island. He is also a founding trustee of the Courthouse Kiwanis Club.
He was a recipient of the Award for Professionalism & Community Service from the Court Officers’ Benevolent Association as well as the Merit Performance Award for Community Service and Humanitarian Pursuits from the New York State Unified Court System.
Muscarella is registered as a Republican.
