The Hon. Henry E. Davis (Ret.) was a judge for the 4th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Davis was appointed to the bench by former Governor Lawton Chiles in 1992. He retired in 2016.
The 4th Judicial Circuit encompasses Clay County, Duval County, and Nassau County. Davis held assignments in Duval County, presiding over cases in the Civil Division, the Family Division, the Juvenile Delinquency Division, and the Criminal Division. He also sat as the Administrative Judge for the Juvenile Division.
Davis earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida. He spent the next three years in the United States Navy, completing a tour in Vietnam as a supply and disbursing officer aboard the USS Marias. Then, in 1976, he received a J.D. from Florida State University College of Law.
After graduating from law school, Davis began his legal career with the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. Shortly after, he returned to Jacksonville and entered into private practice. He worked in that capacity for twelve years, specializing in personal injury, workers' compensation, probate, and real estate matters.
Davis was raised in Jacksonville, Florida, and graduated from Douglas Anderson High School. When not presiding over legal proceedings, he enjoys walking, reading, and playing tennis.
