The Hon. Glenn Terry Shelby (deceased) served as a judge for the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Shelby was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Scott on February 13, 2013, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. John Laurent. He passed away on December 7, 2017.
The 10th Judicial Circuit encompasses Hardee County, Highlands County, and Polk County. Shelby held assignments in Polk County.
Shelby earned a B.B.A. from Southern Methodist University in 1976. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law, in 1979.
After graduating from law school, Shelby entered into private practice, where he specialized in estate planning and real estate transactions. He worked in that capacity until his appointment to the bench.
His memberships have included the Lakeland Rotary Club and the Bartow Rotary Club. He also sat on the Board of the Lakeland Christian School, the Board of the Lake Morton Community Church, and the Citizens Advisory Panel for Lakeland Lighthouse Ministries.
Shelby was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He graduated from Miami-Palmetto High School in 1973.
