The Hon. Douglas J. Lerose is a judge for the Nassau County District Court in the Tenth Judicial District of New York. He was initially appointed to the District Court bench by former Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano in 2012 and was then later elected to the seat in November of that same year.
He is a registered Republican.
Judge Lerose received his bachelor’s degree from Adelphi University in 1977. He went on to earn a J.D. from New York Law School in 1983.
Shortly after graduating from law school, Lerose entered into solo practice in 1984. In addition to his law practice, he began a fourteen-year tenure as general counsel to New York State Senator Carl Marcellino (R-Syosset) in 1995.
In 2010, he became deputy bureau chief of the General Litigation Bureau of the Nassau County Attorney’s Office. He would continue in that position until his appointment to the bench in 2012.
His memberships have included both the Nassau County and Suffolk County Bar Associations.
