The Hon. Douglas E. Bigge is a magistrate for the 23rd Judicial District Court of Kansas. He was elected to the bench in 1996.
The 23rd Judicial District encompasses Ellis, Gove, Rooks, and Trego Counties. Bigge has held assignments in Rooks County. Over the course of his judicial career, Bigge played an instrumental role in the creation of the Rooks County Courthouse Coat Exchange.
Bigge earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Fort Hays State University.
He is a recipient of the Lee Nusser Award for Outstanding Magistrate from the Kansas District Magistrate Judges Association (2018).
Bigge and his wife, Kori, have one daughter. When not presiding over legal proceedings, Bigge has been involved with the Eager Beaver 4-H Club, and he has coached youth sports in Stockton and Plainville.
