The Hon. Candice Alcaraz is a judge for the 29th Judicial District Court of Kansas. She was elected to the bench on November 8, 2022.
The 29th Judicial District encompasses Wyandotte County.
Alcaraz earned a bachelor’s degree from Truman State University. She then completed a J.D. at Washburn University School of Law in 2016. As a law student, she interned with the Hon. Stephen Hill of the Kansas Court of Appeals.
After graduating from law school, Alcaraz began her legal career as an assistant district attorney with the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office. During her tenure there, she held assignments in the juvenile offender unit and the adult criminal unit, prosecuting murders, sex crimes, robberies, batteries, and other matters.
Her memberships have included the Wyandotte County Youth Fatality Review Board. She has also been involved with the Kiwanis Club of Kansas City, Kansas West, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City, and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
Alcaraz was born and raised in the South Side of Chicago, Illinois.
She is registered as a Democrat.
